U.S. Naval Sea Cadets: R. D. Stethem Battalion
While our Battalion has a Primary Sponsor, various organizations can agree to be an additional sponsor to our Sea Cadets!
Various organizations such as military commands, commercial businesses, associations like veterans groups, and non profit organizations can become a Sponsor.
Groups within an organization such as Senior and Junior Leadership groups (i.e. Chiefs Mess, First Class Petty Officer Associations) can also become a sponsor for our Battalion.
The primary objective of a sponsor is to assist our Battalion in fulfilling our mission. Sponsors actively support our Battalion, however, leave direct supervisory authority to Sea Cadet leadership within the Battalion.
Although sponsors can provide financial support, this is not required!
Sponsors provide support for our Battalion's Sea Cadets by:
establish primary & secondary points of contact to serve as liaisons to our Battalion
providing needed material, tools, equipment, etc for trainings
provide volunteers from their group to assist in unit drills, fundraisers and other activities
coordinate joint Sponsor-Battalion community service and other COMREL events for our Sea Cadets to participate
military sponsors utilize their networks to secure training events with with other military commands
provide volunteers to serve as direct mentors for cadets pursuing special programs (college, officer programs, SEALS, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, etc)
securing training facilities for Battalion use
Coordinate with Battalion staff to Host A Drill and provide training for a Drill day.
